500 grams pork fat (with meat layers)
1 onion (optional)
Salt to taste

how to cook step by step

  • Prepare the Pork Fat: Cut the pork fat into small cubes.
  • Fry: Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add the diced pork fat and fry, stirring occasionally, until golden and crispy. This will take about 15-20 minutes.
  • Add Onion (Optional): If you want to add onion, dice it finely and add it to the shkvarki about 5 minutes before the end of frying. Fry until the onion is golden.
  • Season: Salt the shkvarki to taste and mix well.
  • Shkvarki can be served as a standalone dish or used as a topping for other dishes like potato pancakes (draniki) or porridge. Enjoy your meal!
